Breakfast management and food was excellent - wide variety and food for many tastes. Clean. Reception and housekeeping were lovely with a number of people speaking English. Great to have access to the hotspring water in your room. On the downside - the rooms are in desperate need of renovation. Very tired. And the bathrooms are suffering from the effects of the sulphur. Excellent location.

This spa hotel can be accessed from Beitou station, and then out to Xinbeitou, a branch line operated by shuttle train. We simply used the hot spring facilities, as casual visitors. We had decided not to use the public hot springs (potentially too crowded and maybe less hygienic) but paid for private rooms at Sweet Me Hot Springs Resort. Cost 1000 – 1200 T$ according to room facilities. You had a room with a deep bath, room enough for 2, and could have water at your preferred temperature; a shower to wash off the sulphur smell and water to drink. We had 90 minutes and it was really quite good. Because of having the privacy of own room, could bathe naked.

I checked in at the hotel on 20 January 2024 for one night with my family of 2 and one infant. When I checked in the hotel heater system has issues, which means the hotel hot spring facilities could not be used. Not only that, the hotel room shower cannot dispense hot water. The issue is only resolved after 5 hours. My baby can’t even bath because of this. Instead of giving us some compensation like a late check out or something, they just apologised profusely as though that’s all they can do. I was extremely disappointed with one of the reception staff, a girl that wore specs not sure her name. She was rude and disrespectful to me, brushing me off with my request. I was denied a late check out with so many issues at hand. The hotel room is well furnished and comfortable but service staff is terrible.

The main attraction in this hotel is the spa. Otherwise, the hotel is quite old. The electric socket doesn't work. There are too few charging sockets, and they don't seem to work very well. The cold spell was going on. So I was confined to the hotel. So the proximity of the hotel was important.

Rooms need a complete overhaul and renovation. We were a party of four people where two people stayed in each of the two rooms. Pros: --1) Checking-in. Received timely assistance in unloading and delivering the luggage to the rooms. The front desk was adamant in not extending any late check-out (as our flight departure time was not until 5PM) for the hotel also rented the rooms out on an hourly basis for those who just wanted to experience the hot springs water. --2) Building exterior and ground floor lobby are nicely decorated and maintained to give an air of cleanliness and modernity. --3) Breakfast had a good spread of Asian/Taiwanese food and a splattering of western ones. Asians made up the majority of the clientele; thus, it made sense to focus the type of food for the Asian taste buds. The greeter at the front of the restaurant handed out a plastic glove for all to wear as the guests were expected to cover one of their hands when he/she went to get food. Unfortunately, that is where the positives end. Cons: --1) Rooms and their furniture were dated; --2) Walls were stained and had black marks throughout; --3) Mold was prevalent in the bathroom; --4) Stains readily apparently around the toilet. A sense of pride and a dedication to basic cleanliness by hotel management would have seen to it that toilet seats in that condition could be changed out at no more than $30 each and 10 minutes worth of elbow grease time. Would I stay there again: No.
